Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-30
Draft — pending legal review. This text is a working draft written from the product requirements. It is not final and is not yet in force.
These terms cover your use of BucketList, an app for discovering travel bucket lists made by other people, making them your own, and sharing your version. By tapping “Get started” you agree to them.
1. Who can use BucketList
You must be at least 13 years old to use BucketList. You confirm this when you accept these terms on first launch.
There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no password. Your device is identified by an anonymous token that the app creates for you, and everything you make belongs to that token.
2. Your device token
The anonymous device token is what proves a list is yours. It is stored in your device’s secure storage and never shown to anyone else.
There is no account to sign back in to. Instead, the token is saved with your device’s own backup — Google’s Block Store on Android, the Keychain on iOS — so reinstalling the app, or moving to a new device through that backup, brings your lists back. After you use Delete Account, the old token is not restored.
If your device’s backup is turned off or unavailable, the token cannot be recovered once you delete the app or reset your device. Lists you have already published stay reachable at their share links, but you will no longer be able to edit them.
3. Making and publishing lists
In BucketList you can start a new list from scratch, or make an existing list — or a single item from one — yours. Making something yours takes a snapshot: later edits by the original author do not change your copy, and your edits do not change theirs.
A list stays private until you publish it. Publishing gives it a share link and makes it visible to anyone who has that link. Edits to a published list take effect immediately — there is no second publish step.
- A list holds at most 50 items.
- Publishing is one-way: you cannot make a published list private again yourself.
- The display name you enter when you first publish is shown next to your published lists.
4. What you may not post
You are responsible for the content you write. Do not post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, deceptive, or that infringes someone else’s rights. The Community Guidelines describe this in more detail and are part of these terms.
Do not put personal information about other people — or about yourself, if you would not want it public — into a list you intend to publish.
5. Reporting, blocking, and moderation
Anyone can report a published list, and anyone can block an author so that their lists stop appearing. Blocking affects only your own view; the author is not notified.
We review reports and may make a list private again or remove it if it breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines. We do not review every list before it is published, and we do not promise to act on every report.
6. Translation
Published lists may be shown in languages other than the one they were written in. Translations are produced automatically and are sometimes reviewed by a person; either way they can be inaccurate. The original text is what you wrote, and translations never overwrite it.
7. Your content and our use of it
You keep ownership of what you write. By publishing a list you allow BucketList, Inc. to store, display, translate, and share it as part of running BucketList, including showing it in Discover and rendering it on the web page behind its share link.
This permission lasts as long as the list is published, and ends when the list is removed — except for copies other people already made, which are snapshots and stay with them.
8. Ending your use
You can delete everything from Settings → Delete Account. This removes your lists, including published ones, and their share links stop working.
We may suspend or remove content, or stop providing the service, if it is necessary to comply with the law or to protect other people using it.
9. No warranty and limits on liability
BucketList is provided as it is. Places close, details change, and lists are personal opinions — do not rely on them for travel decisions without checking. To the extent the law allows, BucketList, Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially we will ask you to accept them again in the app before you can create, publish, or make further lists yours.
11. Contact
Reach us from Settings → Report a Problem in the app. Messages sent there go to our moderation console, not to a public forum.
